Jobber AI Receptionist: pricing, what it books, and the alternatives
If you run your business on Jobber, the built-in receptionist is the first thing you'll try. Here's what it does, what a "conversation" costs, and when you've outgrown it.
What Jobber AI Receptionist is
Jobber is the field-service platform a large share of painters, landscapers and cleaners already run on, and its AI Receptionist lives inside it. Per Jobber's help center, it answers calls and text messages around the clock, can book a job into your Jobber calendar using your Online Booking form, handles reschedules and cancellations, creates requests, and escalates either by texting you a transcript with a callback link or by transferring the call live to your escalation contact. It requires a dedicated Jobber phone number and only admin users can manage it.
Pricing on Jobber's site is a $29/month add-on that includes 30 conversations, with $0.79 per additional conversation. A conversation is a call where the AI actively engages (spam and no-conversation calls don't count) or a text thread that stays open up to 24 hours. Jobber's help center also notes Plus-plan customers ($499/month) get it included with unlimited usage; check with Jobber for your plan. Jobber's own plans run $49 to $499/month on monthly billing.
Where Jobber AI Receptionist is the better pick
- You're on Jobber and calls are the whole problem. $29 for 30 conversations, booking straight into your Jobber calendar, no second vendor. This is the correct first step and you should take it.
- Your monthly call volume is small. Under 30 real conversations a month, the price is unbeatable. At 100 it's still only about $84.
- You want one login. Everything, including the receptionist's transcripts, lives in the tool you already open every morning.
- You're on Jobber Plus. If it's included with unlimited usage on your plan, the price comparison isn't close.
Where it runs out for a contractor
The receptionist is an intake tool. It gets the request into Jobber, which is what Jobber is for. It doesn't, as documented, run multi-day text follow-up on estimates that went quiet, detect and respond to price objections on the call, place outbound calls to your past-customer list, draft replies to Google reviews, or tell you which lead source produced the booked revenue. Jobber has other features for some of that, but the AI receptionist itself is about answering and booking.
The booking path also runs through your Online Booking form, so what the AI can offer is what that form allows; it isn't reading your Google Calendar's free/busy. And the conversation meter means a busy month costs more; 150 conversations on the add-on is about $124, which is fine, but it's not the $29 you'll remember signing up for.

How AI Front Desk Helper is different
AI Front Desk Helper is a standalone system rather than an add-on, and it's aimed at the part of the job Jobber's receptionist hands back to you. Booking goes into your own Google Calendar after a free/busy check. Estimates that don't close get a text sequence at 24 hours, 3, 5 and 10 days. Objections get a recovery script. On Elite, past customers get outbound calls, reviews get replies, and every phone number is tied to a lead source so you can see where booked revenue actually comes from. Leads can still go to your CRM, Jobber included, through Zapier or a webhook, so you don't lose the tool you run the business in.
It costs more because it's a different category. If Jobber's add-on does what you need, stay there.
What AI Front Desk Helper does besides answer the phone
Answering the phone is the entry point, not the product. Here is the rest of what runs once a contractor is on AI Front Desk Helper:
- Booking that respects your calendar. Alex checks your own Google Calendar and offers real open times, so it never books a slot you're already on a job for. Jobs per time slot, arrival windows, appointment length, same-day booking and service days by ZIP code are all settings. Reschedules and cancellations move or remove the event.
- Crews, not just one calendar. Optional auto-assign books each job to a free crew member in turn, using their own calendar and work days, and adds them to the event. Repeating visits (weekly, every two weeks, monthly) can be paused for one customer or for the season.
- After-hours emergencies. You write what counts as an emergency and list up to three on-call phones. Alex rings them in order with a text briefing, and the tech presses 1 to take the call. Emergency texts and website chats alert the same phones, and a tech can reply CALL to be connected.
- Photos by text. Customers can text a photo to your number. Alex saves it to their card, forwards an emergency photo to the on-call phones, sends your Quick Quote link for a job it can price, and offers a visit for anything else.
- Straight answers on price. With the estimator turned on, for junk removal, window cleaning, pressure washing, house cleaning, pest control, garage doors, pool service, flooring, concrete, window installation, stump grinding and lawn care, Alex gives a ballpark from your own price sheet and says the crew confirms on site. Trades that price on site can set a service call fee, and Alex answers financing and insurance questions from what you set. No number you didn't give it.
- Instant online quotes. A branded quote-and-book page for your business (yours looks like quote.yourcompany.com) where customers get a ballpark and pick a time, day or night. Built in for painting, roofing, siding, fencing, gutters and the twelve trades above, and switched on with the estimator (included on Elite, a $20/month add-on on Basic and Pro).
- Estimate follow-up that doesn't quit. Text sequences at 24 hours, 3, 5 and 10 days on every quote that hasn't closed, written like a contractor, stopping the moment the customer replies.
- Objection detection. "Too expensive" or "need to think about it" triggers a recovery script instead of a polite goodbye.
- Outbound campaigns. AI calls and texts to your past-customer list for seasonal reactivation, win-backs and referral asks. You set the campaign; it dials.
- Google Business Profile, handled. Every new review gets an owner reply drafted for you; profile posts can be drafted, approved and scheduled weeks ahead; a profile health audit shows how you stack up against nearby competitors.
- Revenue coaching by lead source. Every phone number is tied to where it came from (Angi, LSA, Facebook, referral, yard sign), so the dashboard shows which marketing produces booked revenue and which to cut.
- Customer DISC profiles. Every caller and texter gets a buying-style read (D, I, S or C) from what they actually said, with a confidence flag, so you walk into the estimate knowing how to sell to them.
- Franchise HQ. One rollup across every location for multi-unit operators.
- Reseller program. Agencies can offer the whole system under their own brand. How it works.
- Optional add-on: AI Rep Coach. Records in-home estimates and coaches the people who sell, with manager review and team analytics. Sold separately, per seat.
Who should pick which
Pick Jobber's AI Receptionist if you're on Jobber and your problem is missed calls. Turn it on this week. It's $29, it books into the calendar you already use, and it will pay for itself on the first saved job.
Pick AI Front Desk Helper when you notice the pattern the receptionist can't fix: estimates going quiet, customers who "need to think about it" never returning, a past-customer list you never work, reviews sitting unanswered, and marketing spend you can't attribute. That's the layer above intake, and it's what we built.
Questions people ask
How much does Jobber's AI Receptionist cost?
$29 a month as an add-on, which includes 30 conversations. Each extra conversation is $0.79. Jobber's help center says it's included with unlimited usage on the Plus plan. You also need a Jobber plan and a Jobber dedicated phone number.
Can Jobber's AI Receptionist book appointments?
Yes. Per Jobber's help center, it can book jobs into your Jobber calendar through your Online Booking form, create requests, and reschedule or cancel appointments, by phone call or text.
What are the alternatives to Jobber's AI Receptionist?
Standalone AI receptionists that run alongside Jobber, including AI Front Desk Helper, which sends leads to Jobber through Zapier or a webhook. We compare sixteen of them, with published prices, in Best AI receptionists for contractors.
What counts as a conversation in Jobber's AI Receptionist?
Per Jobber's help center, a call where the AI actively engages the caller, or a text thread that starts when the AI first responds and stays open for up to 24 hours. Spam and calls with no conversation don't count.
Is Jobber's AI Receptionist included in any plan?
Jobber's pricing page lists it as a $29/month add-on. Jobber's help center says Plus-plan customers get it included with unlimited usage. Confirm with Jobber for your account.
Does AI Front Desk Helper work with Jobber?
Alongside it, yes. We don't sync directly with Jobber; new leads and bookings can be sent to it through Zapier or a webhook. Calendar booking goes through Google Calendar with a free/busy check rather than through Jobber's online booking form.
Can I use both?
You could keep Jobber's receptionist on the Jobber number and run AIFDH on your main line, but most contractors pick one so the customer doesn't hear two different AIs. If you move to AIFDH, your Jobber stays as the CRM.
Fifteen minutes. We'll call your business number, show you what the AI does after the call, and you decide.
