An AI receptionist for concrete contractors that answers during the pour
You can't stop in the middle of a pour to answer the phone, and the concrete season is short enough that every missed estimate call hurts. Here's how the AI handles the phone while you're on the slab.
Ballpark prices by phone and text, and the Quick Quote page, work when you turn on the estimator in Settings (included on Elite, a $20/month add-on on Basic and Pro). With it off, Alex books the visit instead of giving a price.
Where concrete contractors actually lose the job
Concrete contractors miss calls at the worst possible moments: during the pour, finishing before it sets, or running a saw. A missed call is often a big job. Angi puts the average concrete driveway at $6,400, with a typical range of $2,700 to $14,500 (Angi, "How Much Does a Concrete Driveway Cost in 2026?"). The homeowner calls three contractors and books whoever calls back first.
The season squeezes it. Everyone wants their patio before summer and their driveway before winter, the weather cancels a third of your days, and quotes sit for weeks while the customer thinks about stamped versus broom finish. Without follow-up, those quotes go to the contractor who happened to call back when the weather broke.
What the AI does on a concrete contractor call
The AI answers as your company, in about two rings, on every call at once. It asks what a good estimator asks: what they want poured or fixed (driveway, patio, sidewalk, garage or shed slab, steps, a cracked or sunken slab), roughly how big, whether old concrete has to come out, whether a truck can get close or it needs a pump or wheelbarrows, the finish they want, and their timeline.
Then it books the estimate into open time on your Google Calendar after a free/busy check, with those answers on the event, so you can look at the site with the job already scoped. Callers who ask get your minimum job size the way you wrote it, and callers outside your service area get a polite answer instead of a wasted trip. Commercial jobs can be handled by your rules, such as a walkthrough or a callback.
On price: Alex reads from your concrete price sheet (driveways by size, patios, sidewalks and slabs, with tear-out and finish as adjustments), and you move any line up or down by a percent. It gives a range, never a firm number, and always says the estimator confirms the exact price after seeing the site. Then it books the estimate. Jobs the sheet doesn't cover get a site visit instead of a number. Your Quick Quote page (quote.yourcompany.com) does the same online: a few questions, a ballpark range, and a time to pick. If a caller asks about financing, Alex answers from the yes-or-no and one line you wrote, and never promises approval or a rate. It never makes up a number. It recognizes repeat customers by caller ID and drops robocalls.
What happens after the call
Every quote that doesn't close on the spot goes into a follow-up text sequence at 24 hours, 3, 5 and 10 days ("Still thinking about the stamped patio? We have a few spots open before it gets too cold to pour.") and stops the moment they reply. If a caller says the price is more than expected, the AI switches to a recovery script (a smaller pad, a plain broom finish now and decorative later) instead of ending the call. Estimates get a reminder, and missed calls get a text back.
Every number you publish is tracked as its own lead source, so you can see which one produced poured jobs: the yard signs, LSA, the builder you sub for, or Nextdoor. On Elite, outbound campaigns go to past customers for sealing and new projects, and every Google review gets a reply drafted.
What it doesn't do: schedule the ready-mix truck, track the weather, or take payment. You still decide the pour day; the AI gets the jobs onto your list.
A week on the phone, concrete contractor edition
This is an example of how the system handles a week, not a customer's results.
Tuesday, 9:20 am, mid-pour. A homeowner wants her cracked driveway torn out and replaced, about 20 by 40 feet, with truck access from the street, and she's hoping for October. The AI books an estimate for Thursday at 5 with all of that on the event. At 11:05 a caller wants a small sidewalk patch; Alex tells him your minimum job size, and he decides it isn't a fit. At 3:40 a builder's office asks about a garage slab, and the AI books a site visit.
The driveway quote goes out Thursday. It rains all the next week. On day 10 the follow-up text asks if she still wants to get it in before winter, and she replies, "Yes, let's do it."
What AI Front Desk Helper does besides answer the phone
Answering the phone is the entry point, not the product. Here is the rest of what runs once a contractor is on AI Front Desk Helper:
- Booking that respects your calendar. Alex checks your own Google Calendar and offers real open times, so it never books a slot you're already on a job for. Jobs per time slot, arrival windows, appointment length, same-day booking and service days by ZIP code are all settings. Reschedules and cancellations move or remove the event.
- Crews, not just one calendar. Optional auto-assign books each job to a free crew member in turn, using their own calendar and work days, and adds them to the event. Repeating visits (weekly, every two weeks, monthly) can be paused for one customer or for the season.
- After-hours emergencies. You write what counts as an emergency and list up to three on-call phones. Alex rings them in order with a text briefing, and the tech presses 1 to take the call. Emergency texts and website chats alert the same phones, and a tech can reply CALL to be connected.
- Photos by text. Customers can text a photo to your number. Alex saves it to their card, forwards an emergency photo to the on-call phones, sends your Quick Quote link for a job it can price, and offers a visit for anything else.
- Straight answers on price. With the estimator turned on, for junk removal, window cleaning, pressure washing, house cleaning, pest control, garage doors, pool service, flooring, concrete, window installation, stump grinding and lawn care, Alex gives a ballpark from your own price sheet and says the crew confirms on site. Trades that price on site can set a service call fee, and Alex answers financing and insurance questions from what you set. No number you didn't give it.
- Instant online quotes. A branded quote-and-book page for your business (yours looks like quote.yourcompany.com) where customers get a ballpark and pick a time, day or night. Built in for painting, roofing, siding, fencing, gutters and the twelve trades above, and switched on with the estimator (included on Elite, a $20/month add-on on Basic and Pro).
- Estimate follow-up that doesn't quit. Text sequences at 24 hours, 3, 5 and 10 days on every quote that hasn't closed, written like a contractor, stopping the moment the customer replies.
- Objection detection. "Too expensive" or "need to think about it" triggers a recovery script instead of a polite goodbye.
- Outbound campaigns. AI calls and texts to your past-customer list for seasonal reactivation, win-backs and referral asks. You set the campaign; it dials.
- Google Business Profile, handled. Every new review gets an owner reply drafted for you; profile posts can be drafted, approved and scheduled weeks ahead; a profile health audit shows how you stack up against nearby competitors.
- Revenue coaching by lead source. Every phone number is tied to where it came from (Angi, LSA, Facebook, referral, yard sign), so the dashboard shows which marketing produces booked revenue and which to cut.
- Customer DISC profiles. Every caller and texter gets a buying-style read (D, I, S or C) from what they actually said, with a confidence flag, so you walk into the estimate knowing how to sell to them.
- Franchise HQ. One rollup across every location for multi-unit operators.
- Reseller program. Agencies can offer the whole system under their own brand. How it works.
- Optional add-on: AI Rep Coach. Records in-home estimates and coaches the people who sell, with manager review and team analytics. Sold separately, per seat.
Setup for a concrete contractor
In Settings, pick Concrete as your trade. On one onboarding call we load your services (driveways, patios, sidewalks, slabs, steps, decorative and stamped work, repairs), your price sheet, your minimum job size, your financing answer, your service area and your estimate calendar. Forward your existing number or port it. Most contractors are live within the week.
A straight answer about where this comes from: AI Front Desk Helper was built and tested inside my painting company. Concrete runs on the same setup as our HVAC, plumbing and electrical customers: your rules for what's urgent, calendar booking, follow-up and lead tracking. The concrete price sheet and Quick Quote were added in September 2026, so Alex gives a ballpark and still books the estimate. We don't have results from concrete contractors to publish yet, and we won't make them up.

Which plan for a concrete contractor
Most concrete contractors belong on Pro. Estimate booking, reminders and quote follow-up change the season, and they live there. Elite adds outbound campaigns to past customers, review replies and revenue by lead source, worth it once you're spending on ads. Basic answers and captures leads without booking.
Questions concrete contractors ask
Will it quote a price per square foot?
Yes, with the estimator turned on, as a ballpark. Alex gives a range by phone or text from your concrete price sheet, which you move up or down by a percent. It always says the estimator confirms the exact price after seeing the site, because tear-out, access and finish change it, and then it books the estimate.
Can it turn away jobs that are too small?
It won't turn anyone away on its own. Give Alex your minimum job size and it tells callers who ask, and the size they describe lands on the booking so you can cancel an estimate that doesn't fit.
What does it ask before booking the estimate?
What's being poured, rough size, tear-out, truck access, finish and timeline. You can add your own questions. The answers go on the calendar event.
Does it schedule the pour or the ready-mix?
No. You set the pour day. The AI handles the calls, the estimate booking and the follow-up.
Does it follow up when weather delays a decision?
Yes. Every quote gets texts at 24 hours, 3, 5 and 10 days, stopping the moment the customer replies. You can set a longer custom cadence.
Fifteen minutes. We call your business line, run a real concrete contractor call, and show you what happens after it. You decide.
